Applications are being accepted for a part-time Adjunct Faculty - Economic and Workforce Development Water Quality Instructor at Moraine Park Technical College, Fond du Lac campus. The teaching responsibility will be in Water Quality and the Wisconsin Water and Operator Certification courses offered at various locations across the state, both online and in person. This instructor may be required to travel throughout Wisconsin.  This position reports to the Associate Dean of Economic and Workforce Development. This position is approximately 12 hours per month. Check out more information about adjunct faculty here.   Beginning: Immediately   Job Description: - Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College’s core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct. - Meet the student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments. - Maintain student records and documentation. Submit grades within the expected timeframe. Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development. - Actively participate in professional growth activities, such as: networking and sharing with and among faculty across the College, memberships and professional organizations, accepting and incorporating guidance and support from peers and supervisors, staying up-to-date with technology trends, maintaining occupational competence, staying current in the field and creating and maintaining a professional development plan. Assist with mentoring other full-time and adjunct faculty. - Maintain equipment and supplies for the classroom and labs, as necessary to support the assigned program area and future trends in industry. Work with supervisor to identify alternative funding sources as needed. Job Requirements: - Associate Degree - Two (2) years (4,000 hours) of paid work experience related to the program(s) being taught, including one (1) year (2,000 hours) of related paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five (5) years. In lieu of this one (1) year (2,000 hours) of recent experience, two (2) years of postsecondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five (5) years may be considered. (Two (2) years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight (8) semesters of part-time teaching or four (4) semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution.) - Hydraulic fluid analysis and control - Chemical processing - Electrical - instrumentation operations - Lab analysis - Equipment maintenance - Control physical processes (e.g. sedimentation, filtration, and digestion)

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking qualified individuals to join our team as a Tutor Specialist on an occasional (approximately 5-10 hours per week) and temporary basis. The duration of the position will be based on the needs of the student.   As a Tutor Specialist, you will be instrumental in providing academic support to students across various associate degree programs, with a high demand of tutors to cover MPTC’s nursing, IT, and medical coding programs. To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess an associate's degree in a relevant field.   This position will enhance the learning of MPTC students by informally assessing student knowledge, identifying areas needing improvement, providing supplemental instruction, clarifying assignments and course content, modeling and supporting appropriate study strategies, and guiding students toward independence and self-direction in their course work for academic year 2023-24.    Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Complete tutor training requirements and apply acquired skills. 2. Establish and maintain ongoing contact with assigned students and arrange regular tutor sessions, including small group and one-on-one sessions. 3. Consult with course instructors as needed. 4. Help students to break down and simplify complex information taught in class. 5. Integrate effective study and learning strategies to promote independent learning. 6. Coach students in developing a systemic approach to studying that will serve them in many courses. 7. Maintain current and accurate records of tutoring activities and submit required communication and documentation to Tutoring Services Specialist in a timely manner. 8. Communicate with Tutoring Services Specialist to discuss additional needs or concerns of the students. 9. Maintain student confidentiality according to FERPA guidelines.   Qualifications: 1. Associate’s degree or Technical Diploma in related subject area required. 2. Experience as a tutor or equivalent work experience in related subject area preferred. 3. Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds as well as under-prepared and special needs students. 4. Organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 5. Ability to provide assistance with study skills, test-taking strategies, note-taking skills, and time-management. 6. Ability to quickly develop and maintain a positive rapport with students, faculty and staff. 7. Understand student strategies to support auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning styles. 8. Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communication. 9. Ability to maintain records of student participation and outcomes for client reporting in WTCS grants. 10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and possess sensitivity to the needs of students.
