Position Summary:

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Custodian sharing time between our Horicon Regional Center and on our Beaver Dam Campus. The Custodian performs various custodial and light maintenance duties to uphold the standard levels of cleanliness for all the College’s owned and leased properties.

 

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of two years of housekeeping or maintenance experience. Join us at Moraine Park Technical College, where we strive to make a positive difference in the lives of our students!

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Vacuum, sweep, dust and clean classrooms, offices, labs, corridors and public spaces. Clean table tops, desks, markerboards, glass, counter tops and windows. Check and replace light bulbs as necessary. Empty and clean wastepaper and recycling receptacles.
  • Clean restrooms, sinks, toilets, mirrors, partitions and water fountains. Refill consumable dispensers as needed.
  • Operate cleaning equipment to scrub, wax, and buff floors, shampoo carpeting and clean furniture. Perform minor repairs and general preventative maintenance on buildings, grounds and equipment. Ensure equipment is operational at all times. Identify and notify supervisor of facilities needing major repairs.
  • Assist with coordinating cleaning team activities during scheduled cleaning projects. This will include but not limited to, working with the area’s occupants on scheduling workflow, assigning team member tasks, collecting checklists, coordinating equipment and requesting supplies.
  • Complete assigned work orders to resolve immediate customer problems or preventative measures. Assist team members who require additional support with work orders.
  • Straighten, move, or arrange furniture for campus activities and events. Provide extra furniture as needed.
  • Assist supervisor with training new employees to prepare them for their role. Provide team with further training on new housekeeping techniques and equipment.
  • Operate snow removal equipment for assisting in snow removal at assigned campus.
  • Identify and dispose of recyclable materials, hazardous waste and contaminated materials according to District procedure and safety guidelines.
  • Perform insect and rodent control activities.
  • Perform building security functions as required.

 

Experience & Qualifications:

 

  • Demonstrated mechanical ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools and motorized equipment.
  •  Knowledge of software applications, including Microsoft Office 365 (Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with end users, colleagues, and management to provide a complete and timely explanation of issues and decisions to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently with little supervision and make sound decisions with minimal direction.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize special projects with routine assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.

Hiring Range: $16.77  - $18.77

Starting: Immediately

Hours/Schedule/Travel (if applicable): Academic: Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. (40 hours), Summer: Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. (36 hours). Daily travel between Horicon Regional Center and the Beaver Dam Campus.
