Overview

Moraine Park Technical College is establishing a candidate pool for potential part-time Adjunct Faculty Medical Laboratory Technician Instructors for our West Bend and Fond du Lac campuses. We are currently in need of a Fall 2025 instructor for two, 8 week courses, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the West Bend Campus. Future opportunities may also include daytime availability and potential travel to the Fond du Lac Campus.The primary teaching responsibility will be in the MLT program, however, class assignments and locations may vary from term to term. Individuals in this role report to the Associate Dean of Health Sciences. 

 

Job Qualifications:

Successful candidates will have a bachelors degree in a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience with two years (4,000 hours) of paid work experience related to the program(s) being taught, including one year (2,000 hours) of related paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five years. In lieu of this one year of recent experience, two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five years may be considered. (Two years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight semesters of part-time teaching or four semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution). Candidates must have a nationally recognized certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College’s core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
  • Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Submit grades within the expected timeframe.
  • Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.
  • Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies for the classroom and labs, as necessary to support the assigned program area and future trends in industry. Work with the supervisor to identify alternative funding sources, as needed.
  • Perform other duties, trainings and service to the College as assigned.

 

Experience & Qualifications(in addition to those listed in the summary above):

Experience with the following job duties:

  • Collect blood specimens
  • Familiar with Transfusion Reaction Workups and Mass Transfusion Protocols
  • Prepare and stain slides for diagnostic inspection
  • Perform microscopic examination of urine, blood, and other body fluids
  • Analyze urine, blood, and body fluids quantitatively 
  • Perform medical laboratory procedures in microbiology, blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology/serology, and urinalysis
  • Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.

 

Other Position Requirements:

  • Must satisfactorily complete health screen requirements, which may include criminal and caregiver background checks, drug test and/or verification of immunizations.
  • Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.
  • This position may require teaching and/or travel to other MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations, client/contract work sites, and/or Department of Corrections (DOC) institutions.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

 

Hiring Range: Adjunct pay rates may vary between $39.85 - $43.99/hour based on course configuration
