Position Summary:
Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Dean of Economic & Workforce Development on our Fond du Lac Campus. The Dean of Economic & Workforce Development is responsible for the overall direction of economic and workforce development training activities in alignment with college values and strategic direction in the Teaching and Learning Primary System. Reporting to the Vice President of Teaching and Learning, this position is a vital role in supporting strategic partnership development, business and industry training development, enhancing engagement with communities, and maintaining operational excellence.
The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Administration, or a related field, five years of progressively more responsible experience in higher education administration, two years of leadership or supervisory experience, three years for related occupational experience to include experience in corporate training or an Economic and Workforce Development role and two years of experience planning, implementing, and monitoring budgets within an educational setting.

Responsibilities:
• Initiate educational and business support partnerships between the College, business, industry, and other colleges in collaboration with the appropriate academic dean, and appropriate student services personnel. Ensure the College President is informed of key events and meetings to attend within the communities served. Build and maintain cohesive and effective professional partnerships with community representatives, including city/county leaders, education leaders, civic organizations, community, and economic development organizations, and businesses within the district.
• Provides vision, leadership, and direction through an entrepreneurship model for department activities that includes providing customized training, technical assistance, and professional development for credit and non-credit classes; and ensures that annual program revenue targets are achieved.
• Monitor business and industry desires with area employers, service agencies, and county personnel. Recommend educational programs, workforce training, and non-credit/personal enrichment opportunities to the appropriate academic dean and student services personnel.
• Provide strategic direction for the portfolio of educational and support services offerings for district business and industry clients.
• Identify customer requirements in Outreach programs by establishing and facilitating effective advisory committees, and working in partnership with the Vice President – Teaching and Learning.
• Coordinate and collaborate with appropriate managers on campus operations, including procedures, budgets, special projects, grants, and personnel to maintain a campus culture that ensures quality programs and services and meets College strategic priorities.
• Ensure that the curriculum is relevant, current, consistent, and congruent with appropriate standards to meet customer and community needs, through credit and non-credit options, while fostering the application of innovation and best practice.
• Hire, mentor, and supervise assigned employees. Responsible for performance management, coaching, and ongoing growth and development of direct reports.
• Manage the departmental budget and monitor expenses for areas of direct supervision. Provide input for strategic planning and budget development to include current expenses, major equipment, and College initiative requests. Manage grant and budget expenditures.
Experience & Qualifications(in addition to those listed in the summary above):
• Knowledge of ERP systems, online learning platforms, and software applications, including Microsoft Office 365 (Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with end users, colleagues, and management to provide a complete and timely explanation of issues and decisions to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team.
• High degree of organizational skills and the ability to quickly interpret and synthesize data and information from multiple sources to develop insights and recommendations.
• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work; analyze information, resolve problems, and make recommendations. Knowledge of continuous and performance improvement concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
Desired Qualifications:
• Progressively more responsible experience in higher education administration, specifically in a technical/community college setting.
• Demonstrated experience in grant/project writing and administration.
