Position Summary:

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a Manufacturing Lab Technician on our West Bend Campus. The Manufacturing Lab Technician position is responsible for the organization, maintenance, coordination, oversight, ordering, and repair of manufacturing-related learning equipment and supplies. This includes ensuring that all equipment is properly serviced and that it meets all applicable safety and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Manufacturing and Integrated Technology, this position works with associated faculty to develop and implement equipment replacement and acquisition plans.  This position will travel equally between the AIR (Automation, Innovation and Robotics) Center in West Bend and Fond du Lac.

 

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in a position requiring knowledge of manufacturing-related technology.  This position is funded by the WTCS Core Industry Grant through June 30, 2027.  We will accept applications until the position is filled; however, applicants who apply by July 17, 2025 will be considered in our first review of applicants.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain all equipment and supplies for all manufacturing-related programs across all campus locations.
• Collaborate with faculty, community colleagues, and vendors to maintain and update manufacturing equipment and resources across all campus locations.
• Provide centralized purchasing for manufacturing-related labs at all campuses, assisting faculty with their supply purchasing needs, ensuring appropriate inventory levels are maintained, and ensuring that supplies and equipment are being purchased at competitive prices.
• Work in conjunction with the Associate Dean of Manufacturing and Integrated Technology on the development of the budget for supplies and provide input on minor and capital equipment needs for all manufacturing-related programs.
• Assist with obtaining quotes for minor equipment, capital equipment, and supplies.
• Assist in maintaining the fixed asset inventory and equipment accountability.
• Provide basic technical assistance and support of lab equipment; schedule regular maintenance and repair services.
• Communicate with vendors for the purpose of product information, purchasing, warranty repairs, scheduled maintenance, and movement of equipment.
• Ensure safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials according to policy.

 

Experience & Qualifications(in addition to those listed in the summary above):

• Knowledge of basic safety practices in the workplace.
• Ability to develop relationships with other staff members, in the community, and with other educational institutions.
• Ability to operate and perform basic maintenance on equipment used in manufacturing-related academic programs.
• Knowledge of multimedia and software applications, including Microsoft Office 365 (Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with end users, colleagues, and management to provide a complete and timely explanation of issues and decisions to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Ability to take initiative, work independently with little supervision and make sound decisions with minimal direction.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize special projects with routine assignments.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.

 

Desired Qualifications:
• Associate degree in electromechanical technology, quality and advanced manufacturing, or a related manufacturing or trades field.
• Thorough knowledge of and experience in technical procedures, supplies, and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Any combination of necessary experience and qualifications which provides desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Other Position Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

 

 

Hiring Range: $26.95-$31.25

Starting: Immediately

Workplace Flexibility: Limited work from home upon approval

Hours/Schedule/Travel: Academic: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Summer: Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
