Position Summary:

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician Instructor on our Fond du Lac Campus.  This position is responsible for the multiple modality delivery of instruction and facilitation of student learning and providing ongoing development of curriculum, assessment, and learning strategies to meet college academic and workforce needs. In addition, this position will provide regular student support and contact, or refer to the appropriate department, to meet the learner’s classroom and career goals.  This position will also teach courses on our West Bend Campus.

 

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years (4,000 hours) of paid work experience related to the program(s) being taught, including one year (2,000 hours) of related paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five years. In lieu of this one year of recent experience, two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five years may be considered. (Two years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight semesters of part-time teaching or four semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College’s core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
• Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
• Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Submit grades within the expected timeframe.
• Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.
• Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum.
• Assist with student recruitment and proactively promote the College programs and services offered.
• Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources.
• Engage in internal and external College meetings and activities.
• Build and maintain ongoing relationships with K-12, Department of Corrections (DOC), community, and industry partners beyond the classroom.
• Actively maintain proficient knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices. Complete annual professional development activities in areas of Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS) competencies. Complete all required training.
• Assist with mentoring faculty.
• Maintain equipment and supplies for the classroom and labs, as necessary to support the assigned program area and future trends in industry. Work with the supervisor to identify alternative funding sources, as needed.
• As Program Director, will perform duties and responsibilities outlined by programmatic accreditation expectations, if applicable.
• As Clinical Coordinator, will perform duties and responsibilities outlined by programmatic accreditation expectations, if applicable.

 

Experience & Qualifications(in addition to those listed in the summary above):

• Nationally recognized certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.
• Experience with the following job duties:
  o Collect blood specimens
  o Familiar with Transfusion Reaction Workups and Mass Transfusion Protocols
  o Prepare and stain slides for diagnostic inspection
  o Perform microscopic examination of urine, blood and other body fluids
  o Analyze urine, blood, and body fluids quantitatively
  o Perform medical laboratory procedures in microbiology, blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology/serology, and urinalysis
• Program Directors must have the following:
  o Master’s degree in a related field, or willing to obtain a Master’s Degree from an accredited program. Progress toward a Master’s Degree will be measured through the successful completion of a minimum of three (3) credits of coursework annually, beginning with the third year of employment.
  o Three years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field. (Three years of post-secondary teaching experience means twelve semesters of part-time teaching or six semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution.)
• Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
Desired Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to speak and write in English and Spanish in professional settings.

 

 

Hiring Range: $61,430-$71,259 

Starting: August 11, 2025

Workplace Flexibility: Open Campus

Schedule/Travel: 178-day contract during the academic year, travel to the West Bend Campus
