Position Summary:

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic Millwright Apprenticeship Instructor for our new program on the Fond du Lac Campus.  This position is responsible for the multiple modality delivery of instruction and facilitation of student learning and providing ongoing development of curriculum, assessment, and learning strategies to meet workforce needs. In addition, will provide regular student support and contact, or refer to the appropriate department, to meet the learner’s classroom and career goals.  In the first year of employment, this position will be responsible for creating curriculum, developing industry partnerships and developing lab and equipment needs.  This position is funded by Developing Markets Grant grant through June 30, 2026 and will be funded by the college thereafter. 

 

The successful candidate will have an associate degree in a related field (or willing to obtain an Associate Degree from an accredited program. Progress toward an Associate Degree will be measured through the successful completion of a minimum of three (3) credits of coursework annually, beginning with the third year of employment.) and two years (4,000 hours) of paid work experience related to the program(s) being taught, including one year (2,000 hours) of related paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five years. In lieu of this one year of recent experience, two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five years may be considered. (Two years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight semesters of part-time teaching or four semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution.)

Responsibilities:

• Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College’s core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
• Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
• Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Submit grades within the expected timeframe.
• Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.
• Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum.
• Assist with student recruitment and proactively promote the College programs and services offered.
• Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources.
• Engage in internal and external College meetings and activities.
• Build and maintain ongoing relationships with K-12, Department of Corrections (DOC), community, and industry partners beyond the classroom.
• Actively maintain proficient knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices. Complete annual professional development activities in areas of Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS) competencies. Complete all required training.
• Assist with mentoring faculty.
• Maintain equipment and supplies for the classroom and labs, as necessary to support the assigned program area and future trends in industry. Work with the supervisor to identify alternative funding sources, as needed.
• Perform other duties, trainings and service to the College as assigned.

 

Experience & Qualifications (in addition to those listed above in the summary):

• Candidates unable to verify one year (2,000 hours) of related work experience within the past five years must be willing to obtain a minimum of a year (2,000 hours) of related experience within the first three years of employment. Progress will be measured through an annual College-defined professional development plan.
• Hold or be eligible to obtain a Master Electrician license.
• Experience in at least (8) of the following areas:
  o Reading wiring Blueprints Systems
  o Rigging and hoists
  o Installing and Repairing Wiring Systems
  o Relay Circuits
  o Switches
  o Main Switchboards
  o AC and DC Drive Systems
  o Predictive & Preventative Maintenance
  o Building Electrical Systems – Troubleshooting
  o Building and Safety Codes – Electrical
  o Pneumatics and Mechanical Systems – Troubleshooting and Repair
  o Hydraulics systems – Troubleshooting and Repair
  o Programmable Controller Boards
  o Ladder Diagrams
  o Pneumatic and Hydraulic Components
  o Metering and Instrumentation setup and calibration
• Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.

 

Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Apprenticeship completion certificate from the Wisconsin Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (BAS) or another federally registered program.
• OSHA-10 cardholder.
• Any combination of necessary experience and qualifications which provides desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Work Environment:
• Student learning locations may present the following hazards including, but not limited to, airborne particulates, noise, ergonomic hazards, and extreme temperatures.
• Occupational health and safety hazards may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, eye and face protection, hand protection, and hearing protection.


Other Position Requirements:
• Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.
• This position may require travel to MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations.

 

Hiring Range: $66,960-$77,669 (pending board approval)  (178-day contract in the academic year)

Starting: August 11, 2025
