Position Summary:

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Nursing Assistant Instructor on our West Bend Campus for July 2025. This position is responsible for the multiple modality delivery of instruction and facilitation of student learning and providing ongoing development of curriculum, assessment, and learning strategies to meet workforce needs. In addition, will provide regular student support and contact, or refer to the appropriate department, to meet the learner’s classroom and career goals. This position will teach approximately ten sections year round, including in Hartford High School.  

 

The successful candidate will have an Associate degree in Nursing and two years (4,000 hours) of paid work experience related to the program(s) being taught, including one year (2,000 hours) of related paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five years. In lieu of this one year of recent experience, two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five years may be considered. (Two years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight semesters of part-time teaching or four semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution.).  You must also have at least two years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience working as a Registered Nurse, with one of those years working as a Registered Nurse in Long Term Care and an unencumbered, Active WI RN License.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College’s core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
• Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
• Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Submit grades within the expected timeframe.
• Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.
• Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum.
• Assist with student recruitment and proactively promote the College programs and services offered.
• Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources.
• Engage in internal and external College meetings and activities.
• Build and maintain ongoing relationships with K-12, Department of Corrections (DOC), community, and/or industry partners beyond the classroom.
• Actively maintain proficient knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices. Complete annual professional development activities in areas of Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS) competencies. Complete all required training.
• Assist with mentoring faculty.
• Maintain equipment and supplies for the classroom and labs, as necessary to support the assigned program area and future trends in industry. Work with the supervisor to identify alternative funding sources, as needed.

 

Experience & Qualifications (in addition to those listed in the position summary above):

• Meets Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services (DHS) approval as a Primary Instructor of Nurse Aide, as defined in DHS 129.06(1) and as evidenced by the DHS approval letter on file with the district.
• Must complete the Nursing Assistant Instructor Train the Trainer Course as DHS 129.06(3) requires.
• Must be in good standing with all district-wide clinical placements.
• Experience with all of the following job duties:
o Personal care of the patient (bathing, oral hygiene, nail care, shaving, shampoo, dressing, and undressing)
o Maintenance of the patient's environment (safety and cleanliness; safety and infection control; managing linens, dishes, and supplies; making occupied and unoccupied beds)
o Physical care and emotional support of the patient (apply protective devices and soft restraints; provide back care; apply elastic stockings; assist with ambulation; position patients; assist with feeding; assist with bedpan; transfer techniques)
o Perform treatments and procedures as follows:
   Vital Signs
   Record Food Intake and Elimination
   Change Non-Sterile Dressings
   Give Enemas
   Provide External Care of Catheter and Drainage Systems
   Collect Urine and Stool Specimens
   Do Glucose-Acetone Tests on Urine
   Obtain the Patient's Weight
   Use body mechanics and appropriate equipment in walking and transferring client
• Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.


Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing desired.
• Demonstrated ability to speak and write in English and Spanish in professional settings.

Any combination of necessary experience and qualifications which provides desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Other Position Requirements:
• Must satisfactorily complete health screen requirements, which may include criminal and caregiver background checks, drug test and/or verification of immunizations.
• Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.
• This position may require travel to MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations other than the base location, client/contract work sites, and/or Department of Corrections (DOC) institutions.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

 

Hiring Range: 178-day year-round contract - $61,430 - $71,259 (pending board approval)
