Overview

Position Purpose/Summary:

This position is responsible for monitoring and assisting students in the demonstration of skills in the DMS lab at our Beaver Dam campus.  Additionally, the role involves assisting and collaborating with instructors to maintain the skills lab.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in the practice of skills with instructional activities assigned by instructor. Explain procedures and functions of the lab to students and ensure safety expectations are adhered to.
  • Provide student orientation to all lab resources.
  • Collaborate with instructors to provide feedback regarding student progress and other concerns.
  • Assist in the maintenance of equipment and supplies for the labs, as necessary to support the assigned program area and future trends in industry.
  • Assist in student recruitment and promotional activities for the program.
  • Support student retention and success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources.
  • Perform other duties, trainings and service to the College as assigned.

 

Necessary Experience & Qualifications:

               Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of work experience related to the program(s) being taught.
  • Maintained registration in sonography and follow continuing education requirements as established by ARDMS.
  • Possession of at least one of the following concentration credentials:
    • Abdominal
    • OB/GYN
    • Vascular
  • Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.

Any combination of necessary experience and qualifications which provides desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Work Environment:

  • Student learning locations may present the following hazards including, but not limited to, airborne particulates, noise, ultraviolet and other light radiation, chemical use, exposure to biologic materials and bloodborne pathogens, ergonomic hazards, laser radiation, and/or extreme temperatures
  • Occupational health and safety hazards may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, respiratory protection, eye and face protection, body protection, hand protection, and/or hearing protection.

 

Other Position Requirements:

  • Must satisfactorily complete health screen requirements, which may include criminal and caregiver background checks, TB screening, drug test and/or verification of immunizations.
  • Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.
  • This position may require travel to MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations other than the base location, client/contract work sites, and/or Department of Corrections (DOC) institutions.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
