Position Summary:

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a part-time English Language Learning Program Specialist on our Beaver Dam Campus.  This position will provide support to the English Language Learner Program including recruitment, community outreach, orientation, retention, and academic transition services for English Language Learners.  This position requires frequent travel.

 

The successful candidate will have an Associate degree in a related field and three years of related work experience.  You must also have a demonstrated ability to speak and write in English and Spanish in professional settings.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct the orientation process for ELL students, individually and in group settings. Administer assessments and complete required paperwork related to programming. Assist instructors in providing learning support to students.
• Promote Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC) English Language Learning and Adult Education programs to potential students, community agencies, and employers, including developing and delivering presentations.
• Develop community contacts and represent MPTC by participating in advisory councils and other community activities.
• Provide assistance with the development and implementation of programs, events, and special projects. Design flyers and other marketing materials. Update and disseminate information to referral agencies and institutions. Provide translation support at MPTC-partnered events.
• Actively participate in the recruitment and retention of students. Maintain student records to ensure compliance with project requirements and record accountability. Track participants through the project and beyond. Compile required reports. Refer students to appropriate MPTC and community resources, as needed.

 

Experience & Qualifications:

 

• Knowledge of barriers to college success for English Language Learners and a desire to reduce those barriers.
• Knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Office 365 (Office Suite, MS Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with end users, colleagues, and management to provide a complete and timely explanation of issues and decisions to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Ability to take initiative, work independently with little supervision and make sound decisions with minimal direction.

 

 

Hiring Range: $22.72-$26.73 

Starting: Immediately

Workplace Flexibility: Limited work from home upon approval

Hours/Schedule/Travel: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8:15 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.; Wednesday 1:15 p.m.-7:45 p.m.-24 hours per week year round, 48 weeks per year/travel to other campus locations required.
