Position Summary:
Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Fire Protection Technician Instructor at our brand new facility in Horicon. This position is responsible for the multiple modality delivery of instruction and facilitation of student learning and providing ongoing development of curriculum, assessment, and learning strategies to meet workforce needs in our newly developed Fire Protection Associate Degree program.
The successful candidate will have an Associate degree in a related field, or willing to obtain an Associate Degree from an accredited program. Progress toward an Associate Degree will be measured through the successful completion of a minimum of six credits of coursework annually, beginning with the second year of employment. Applicants must have two years of paid work experience, including one year within the past five years (related to the program being taught).
This position is funded by the Developing Markets grant through June 30, 2025 and will be funded annually thereafter.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College’s core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
- Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
- Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Submit grades within the expected timeframe.
- Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.
- Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum.
- Assist with student recruitment and proactively promote the College programs and services offered.
- Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources.
- Engage in internal and external College meetings and activities.
- Build and maintain ongoing relationships with K-12, Department of Corrections (DOC), community, and industry partners beyond the classroom.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Must have performed the following job duties:
- Operation as a Fire Fighter (Full Time or Volunteer)
- Operating in EMS Profession at an EMT level or higher
- Fire Suppression
- Hazardous Materials Mitigation
- Fire Protection Systems
- Fire Prevention
- Proficiency in the use of Fire and EMS tools, equipment and terminology
- Certified at NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor Level 1.
- Current Wisconsin certification as a Firefighter II, Driver/Operator-Pumper, and Fire Officer.
- Presently licensed or eligible for licensure by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services as an Emergency Medical Services Instructor.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with Tanker endorsement and possess valid Federal medical card or willing to obtain within six months of hire.
- Certification with the National Registry as an Emergency Medical Technician required, or willing to obtain within first two years of hire.
- Fire Inspector Certification, or able to obtain within first year.
- Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification as an NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor Level II.
- Emergency Medical Services Instructor Level II licensure.
- Certification with the National Registry as a EMT or higher.
Other Position Requirements:
- Must satisfactorily complete health screen requirements, which may include criminal background check, drug test and/or verification of immunizations.
- Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.
- This position may require travel to MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations other than the base location, and/or client/contract work sites.
Hiring Range: $62,269-$77,836
