Position Summary:

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a part-time Disability Resources Specialist during the academic year.  The Disability Resources Specialist is responsible for the delivery of disability-related needs, including academic support services as designated by student accommodation plans.  This position is based in Fond du Lac, but will be expected to travel to Beaver Dam and West Bend based on student need.  This position is grant funded by the Student Success grant through June 30, 2024 and will be funded annually thereafter.

 

The successful candidate will have a minimum of an Associate degree in a related field and three years of related work experience working with individuals with disabilities.  If you have prior experience working in higher education and with assistive technology, that would be a plus!

Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with Disability Resources team and faculty to provide one-on-one academic support and accommodations to students with disabilities.
  • Provide accommodations/academic support services to students based on individual accommodation plans. Services may include assignment clarification/review, course concept clarification and review, test preparation, testing accommodations, proofreading assistance, obtaining e-texts, assistive technology support, and communicating with faculty as needed.
  • Coordinate, schedule and proctor testing with willingness to be flexible with scheduled hours to meet student needs.
  • Track student utilization and collaborate with Disability Resources team to implement services as needed.
  • Utilize a web-based software system, to approve tutoring and test room booking, schedule appointments, assist with assistive technology and equipment check-out and return, manage notetaking and e-text requests, and record case notes.
  • Collaborate with the Student Success Center for testing and/or academic support with the adult education students/ at-risk students.
  • Provide note-taking assistive technology training and arrange notetaking services for students with disabilities, including the completion of all required documents and reports.

 

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Knowledge of software applications, including Microsoft Office 365 (Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • High degree of integrity and professionalism and a demonstrated ability to respect the confidentiality of information and demonstrate critical and systems thinking.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize special projects with routine assignments.

 

 

Hiring Range: $22.17 - $26.08

Starting: Immediately
