Overview

Applications are being accepted for a full-time Associate Dean of Economic and Workforce Development at Moraine Park Technical College, Fond du Lac campus. This position is responsible for the operation of the Facilitate Teaching and Learning major process of the Primary Learning System, for the instructional areas of assignment, subject to the constraints imposed by the Dean of Economic and Workforce Development, MPTC District Board policy, State Board rules, laws, and professional ethical behavior. In addition, this position is accountable for, in the instructional areas of assignment, the formation or adjustment of the processes of the following Primary Learning System and Student Services Support System major processes: Student Support, Planning Learning Opportunities, This position is responsible for the operation of the Facilitate Teaching and Learning major process of the Primary Learning System, for the instructional areas of assignment, subject to the constraints imposed by the Dean of Economic and Workforce Development, MPTC District Board policy, State Board rules, laws, and professional ethical behavior. In addition, this position is accountable for, in the instructional areas of assignment, the formation or adjustment of the processes of the following Primary Learning System and Student Services Support System major processes: Student Support, Planning Learning Opportunities, Instructional Operations, Outcome Assessment and Instructional Technology and Innovation.

 

Beginning: November, 2017

Responsibilities

1. Manage all aspects of the relationship with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, to include state, regional and local relationships. Support inmate and staff training needs in accordance with departmental, divisional and college goals.
2. Coordinate equipment and other resources necessary for the execution of Economic and Workforce Development activities on contracts and grants to include recommendation, selection and purchase of items. Monitor budgets and prepare financial reports in accordance with contract and grant activities as appropriate.
3. Recruit, orient, mentor and provide for the ongoing development and evaluation of faculty, management staff and support professionals, including individual development plans, in keeping with MPTC culture and workplace principles.
4. Manage the development of the workshop and seminar schedule for business and industry clients in alignment with departmental goals.
5. Identify, develop and manage third-party vendor relationships with Economic and Workforce Development online instructional providers.
6. Manage the hiring process and utilization of adjunct faculty for Economic and Workforce Development to support contract, grant and community education offerings.
7. Facilitate instructional programming in assigned certificate and continuing education areas. Supervise classes to ensure quality of curriculum, course design and delivery, adequate supplies and equipment and enforcement of safety processes and procedures. Respond to student and instructor concerns and issues; develop and implement solutions as needed.
8. Assist with the planning and organization of District Economic Development activities/events.
9. Serve on College committees, attend College-wide activities and participate in staff development activities and professional organizations. Represent the College at state and local functions to include business expos and trade shows.

Qualifications

1. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Educational Administration or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
2. Two years of secondary or post-secondary teaching experience. Post-secondary teaching experience is preferred.
3. Two years of leadership or supervisory experience in an educational setting, preferably in a post-secondary institution.

4. Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and assessment, preferably in a post-secondary setting.
5. Experience working with the Department of Corrections or other governmental agencies is preferred.
6. Experience negotiating contracts for training and related services is preferred.
7. Experience with grant writing, grant management and grant reporting is preferred.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to interact with all levels of District staff, external customers and governmental agencies including the Department of Corrections.
9. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based, innovative and continuous quality improvement focused environment; experience leading cross-functional teams.
10. Ability to use computer hardware and software, including MS Office, email, internet, and ERP systems (Banner preferred) and instructional technology to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of teaching and learning.
