MPTC is looking for qualified candidates with work related Brake Press background to train entry level workers in the set-up and operation of brake press equipment. This instructor may be teaching at one of three on-campus locations or at various business locations. A flexible schedule is required to meet client needs with day, evening and possible weekend courses. Training experience in a business and industry environment is desirable.


  1. Teach basic setup and operation of brake press equipment, for both air and pneumatic bending. Includes selection of tooling, determining spring back and troubleshooting the process.
  2. Teach to read, interpret, and extract product and quality information from written documents and blueprints.
  3. Collaborate with department staff in designing and delivering customized instruction to our business and industry clients, including the use of customer supplied drawings in the instruction.
  4. Understand and analyze the training needs of business and industry clients.
  5. Maintain accurate and timely reports and records.
  6. Design, develop or modify performance-based curriculum.


  1. Associate Degree in a related field.

  2. A minimum of 2 years  (4,000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience in the set-up and operation of brake press equipment.  If no Associate Degree, must have a minimum of 5 years (10,000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience in the set-up and operation of brake press equipment.

  3. Verifiable occupational experience must include the following:
• Reading and interpreting blueprints for metal forming.• Applying math principles to determine proper bend allowances and spring back.• Verifying whether selected equipment has the capability to run the job.• Determining, selecting and changing tooling on various brands of brake presses.• Troubleshooting machine settings to produce parts within tolerance.• Identifying proper inspection processes and equipment needed.
  4. Must be motivated and have a strong interest in contributing to the success of the student and the College.

  5. Strong human relations and effective verbal and written communications skills are required.
